My great-great-great grandparents Thomas Bresnahan and Mary Eager lived in Currans Village. Their son Michael, born about 1830, sailed off to New Brunswick, Canada, where he made a home and raised a family in Milltown (now part of St. Stephen)
Thomas and Mary's daughter (and my great-great-grandmother) Joanna Bresnahan was born on October 12, 1844, married Dennis Purcell about 1860 and sailed to New Brunswick, Canada, in the summer of 1864 with my great-grandfather Michael and settled in Milltown, N.B.
"Johana Bresnahan Purcell left home July 8, 1864 on Saturday and sailed on 16th of July, 1864, from Liverpool and landed on Saturday, the 25th of August, 1864 Dennis went to work on the 3rd of September, 1864" (paper signed by Joanna in the Purcell Family Bible)

Susan:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
The 1852 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Currans civil parish shows a Thomas Bresnahan in Crag townland which possibly is your ancestor. http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/kerry/currans.htm
I looked at the 1901 census for Crag and there were no Bresnihan families but there was a Brosnan family and Brosnan is a variant of Bresnihan.

Thank you Roger. Yes. It is my Thomas in the 1852 Griffiths Valuation. I discovered him there a few years ago but have been unable to find anything else.

Susan:
You may want to consider autosomal DNA testing. Possibly you will match someone with additional information on the Bresnahans.

One of their sons, Robert Ambrose Bresnahan, born in Milltown in 1908, married my grandmother Donalda Marcelin Bellmore. He and Donalda had 4 daughters, one of whom was my mother, Patricia Ellen Bresnahan.
Any information about Thomas and Mary Bresnahan would be appreciated.
