Good morning. I will be traveling to Ireland in May of this year and wish to visit Caherboshina and the Parish of Kildrum. I have found USA birth records that my maternal Great Great Grandfather was born in Caherboshina. He married a Malligan from Ireland, that is all the information I have there. I'm hoping to meet with or discuss with someone who can help me more. In the meantime, I will explore more resources listed on this website. Thank you for welcoming me home!!!

Hi Kathleen,
Thank you very much for your message and sorry for the delay in responding. I hope that we haven't missed you!
I have passed you message onto one of our volunteers from one of Kildrum?s neighbouring parishes. Hopefully he will be able to contact you with some assistance or advice.
Also, we have recently added a link to the top of our page for people who are planning on visiting this year. It takes you to a short web form. We would really appreciate it if you could take a moment to complete it.
All the best,

I've responded to your short survey. A few comments:
I'm visiting more than three counties, and there was not way to indicate that.
I'm visiting for more than one reason, and no way to indicate that.
The survey gives no opportunity to say how long I'm visiting, which would seem to be important. I'll actually be here almost a month. I'm traveling strictly by public transportation and staying with friends or small hostels along the way.
thanks for all your work.

Emma referred your message to me. I'll try to help as this is really the Ventry area. There are afew places I could look.
What is your G G Grandfathers name? The townland Caherboshina I have found but what dates would that have been?

Dear Kathleen
I was delighted to read a message about Caherboshina or Cahirboshina as it is now spelt by locals. i was born in cahirboshina and left it to move to Ballyferriter when I married.
I have been compiling information about cahirboshina for two years or more and was sorry that I didn't do that when the older generation werethere to help -but sadly genealogy did not interest me then
Caherboshina was in the Parish of Kildrum and we would have attended Primary school in Ventry. We would always have attended mass in the R.C. church of Dingle however
