I wish to trace 2 Loughnane's Timothy and Morgan who I blieve may have been from the Kilflyn parish in Co. Kerry and who both joined the RIC and I assume were brothers as Timothy's family had a son also called Morgan who lived in Cloughjordan, Co. Tipperary;

1. Timothy Loughnane joined on the 14th of April 1846 aged 21 years and served in Counties clare, Kings Co (Offaly) and Kildare and retired on 1st of May 1876. He was recommended by a Major Crosby and I assume is the same person who made contribution and grant of land for Abbeydorney National School in 1848

2. Morgan Loughnane joined on the 18th of October 1852 aged 20 years and served in Roscommon and Tipperary North. He resigned on 1st of May 1861 and he was recommended by J.D. Rice JP.

I would appreciate confirmation or any further information.

Regards.

  • I have a Timothy Laughlin from the Kilflynn area that was a friend of my ancestor, Timothy Keane.  My Cornelius Keane and a Mary Grady were sponsors for the baptism of Johanna Laughlin, daughter of Timothy Laughlin and Margaret (last name I cannot read) on 21 of August, 1857 at St. Mary's Church, Pittsfield, IL, USA.. Johanna was born July 26, 1857. Timothy and John Loughnane are listed in Glanballyma, Parish of Kilflyn, in the Primary Valuation of Tenements which is Griffiths Valuation.

    I hope this helps.
