Researching Cornelius Keane and Catherine Quinlan. I am looking for their birth information, dates and parents, and their marriage. Their children: Timothy, was baptized in Catholic Parish of Lixnaw June 16, 1840, and Johanna born April 1843. A son, John, baptized at Abbeydorney, June 25, 1837, listed on www.irishgenealogy.ie Sponsors: John Sweeney and Johanna Kean.
Catherine supposedly died in Ireland when Johanna was an infant. Cornelius, Timothy, and Johanna immigrated to USA during famine years possibly separately. A John Quinlan and Maurice Quinlan immigrated to the same area and appear to be relatives. They all appear in the 1860 census of the USA-they are living with Patrick Quinlan, his wife, Dorsey, and infant, Patt.

Hi,
Thank you very much for your message.
All Catholic records from Co. Kerry have been uploaded to www.irishgenealogy.ie so if there is a baptism record for them it will be onloine there.
However, it really depends on which parish they were baptised in as the start dates for records in each parish vary greatly. A useful website in this respect is the Irish TImes where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. Follow this link for Catholic parishes in Co. Kerry:

You could also check for record of the family in the land records pertaining to Ireland in the 19th century. There are two:
The Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1838) found at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp
and Griffith?s Valuation (1848-1864) found at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
Some other websites that you may find useful are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/

Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,
