Seeking information about a couple married on February 1, 1844 at St. John the Baptist Church, Causeway, Killury, Co. Kerry. The entry I found on the internet stated: John Walsh of NR and Ellen Kennelly of Killury, Kerry married on 2/1/1844. My father's genealogy lists an Irish family that came into America somewhere between 1849 to 1850. The family information is as follows: John Walsh born about 1810 in Ireland, Ellen Katherine Kennelly Walsh born 1822 in Ireland, Ann Walsh born 1846 in Ireland, Thomas Walsh born 1848 in Ireland, Margarat Walsh born 1850 in New York, Edward Walsh born 1853 in Virginia, James B. Walsh born 1855 in Maryland, Catherine E. Walsh born 1858 in Maryland, Mary Walsh born 1860 in Maryland and Elizabeth Gertrude Walsh (my great-grandmother) born 1863 in Maryland. Trying to verify if this family is the same one registered as married on 2/1/1844 in Killury. I only know that my Walsh family came from Kerry County. My husband and I toured Ireland several years ago and drove all over Kerry County..stunning landscape, wonderful people. We plan to return soon. Thank you for any help with this verification and or any leads to this families origins in Ireland. MaryAnne Anderson

Hi MaryAnne,
Thank you for your message.
Church records from County Kerry have been uploaded to http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/ . you can search these records free of charge. You could try searching for the birth records of the children that were born in Ireland, if you can find these birth records in the Kerry records it is likely that it is the same family.
Have you tried looking into the families emigration? As they seem to have started out in New York it is likely that they went through Castlegarden. You can search their database here: www.castlegarden.org
