I am very much interested in the Somers connection in Currow. My ggrandfater was Michael James Somers b. 4/1821. He emmigrated to St. Johns Canada in 1848. My research has taken me to Currow as the best possibility of his origins.
He married Julia Byrne and ended up in Lubec, Maine area.

I am still looking for O Hearns in and around Killarney. My grandfather Alexander O Hearn was born in 1831 in Barry's Glyn. He married a woman called Mary from Newtown. They seem to have gone to the Channem Islands and ended up in Falmouth Cornwall before going to Australia. I would like any information regarding his family from Killarney or thereabouts.

Carolyn,
I have a John Kerrisk/Healy b. abt 1854 who married Mary Daly b. abt 1851. I believe John was from Gortalassa, Firies, Kerry and I know for sure that Mary was from Ballymacpierce, Castleisland, Kerry.
They appear in the 1901 and 1911 census as living in Gortalassa, Firies, Kerry.
Mary Daly would be my great grand aunt.
I know that these area are close to each other and I believe that Currow is in the same area.
From my research, I have the following information:
Father: Patrick Kerrisk
Mother: Anna Harrington
Siblings: Honoria b. abt 1850
Jeremiah b. abt 1856
Johanna b. abt 1856
Patrick b. abt 1859
Denis b. abt 1861
Annie b. abt 1863.
One of John and Mary's sons, William Healy, came to the USA, I believe he first went to Manchester, New Hampshire where his mothers sister and her famly were living. He then traveled to San Francisco, California. He married and raised 5 childrent. William worked for the City of San Francisco's Fire Department. He died in 1979 at the age of 91.
I don't know if any of these people match up with you Kerrisk/Healy family or not.

Just found this site. My wife is descended from Michael Linehan and Margaret Healy Kerrisk. She would love to hear more about the Kerrisks as she knows almost nothing about them except for the names of the childrenod John and MAry Somers.
Which couple are you descended from and where are you. We are in England.

Hi Carolyn
Lovely to hear from you. My email address is irvinejim@hotmail.com. Is your Kerrisk book printed or online? My wife would love to read it. She knows very little about the Kerrisks and even less about Mary Somers although she has quite a lot of info about the Linehans. That info is mainly from word of mouth as we are only just starting to look at official records eg baptisms etc.
All the best
