Looking for the burial sites of Richard O'Leary & Anne Dumas, both born circa 1800, married 1826 in the townland of Bouleenshere (Booleenshere) and had son Michael circa 1826/1831. Found marriage record of Richard & Anne & birth of Michael in Causeway Parish, John the Baptist Catholic Church. Michael migrated to Wales during or just after the famine (1846/49) but don't know if Richard & Anne did too. Have checked out a few cemeteries between Causeway & Ballyheigue with no results.

  • Hi Don, I haven't had any luck directly with your question but I have found another record  of Richard for you. It is a Civil Record, dated 1833, and note the name of the townland is given differently. There is always the possibility that it is a different family but Cornelius Leary of Boulteenshere Catholic records is also listed there

It may well be that Cornelius, Richard and Jeremiah are related so I would suggest that you follow Cornelius' family to see if they bring you any closer to the present day.

Cornelius is still alive c1853 so you may be able to find his childrens' marriages in the Civil Records.

I hope this helps a little though it does not answer your qustion directly. Many Irish people who died before 1900 have no headstones, it is certainly true of my family.

    Good luck

  • Thanks Martine, I contacted a friend (Tony Kenny) in Killarney who belongs to this Richard & Cornelius, but we're still working on the possibility that we share Richard since Cornelius lived, or had a connection with Bouleenshere, even tho the difference in spelling. (Bolteenshere)  Will keep you posted. I'm trying to get Tony to do the DNA test to see if we may be related.
