My ancestor Patrick Sheahan married Mary O'Connor in Killeentierna Parish 1837 - they had Margaret, Cornelius and Johanna before emigrating to the US some time 1850-53 Timothy, Stephen and Julia born in Chillicothe, Ohio.
Would love to connect with and find out more about Patrick and Mary's families. I know Mary's father was Cain Connor, with family records indicating her mother was Johanna Galvin - uncertain about Patrick's father being Cornelius Sheahan/Shahan and his mother a Fernaugh.
Thank you
Beth

Hi Beth,
I'm doing some research for you as I know some people in the Kilsarcon area. I haven't been able to find much about the Sheehan/Sheahans but I've got some information about the Cain Connors. It seems like your ancestor Mary, who married Patrick Sheahan had a brother Cain who married a Kate(Horan?). They had a Johanna, a Kate( who married a Donovan), an Ellen and a Tom who married Molly Howard. This couple had 9 kids-5 boys; Sonny, Tom, Denis John and another boy that died young. They had 4 girls Julie, Peggy, Mary and Kitty. Sonny was a police officer in America. Julie was married to Stack. Peggy was married in Mallow, Co. Cork. Kitty was a nun and I can't find any details about Mary. There are some descendants living in the Castleisland area so I will continue searching for you.
Kind Regards,

Dear Joan -
Thank you so much for that info! I knew of Mary's brother Cain, but I thought I found him in a Civil War enlistment in the same Ohio county were Mary and Patrick settled but was not sure...
I found a Cain Connor (guessing this was the father? or is it the brother?) living in Kilsarcon in the Griffiths Valuation - next to a John Barry (John Barry was the 2nd witness to Mary and Patrick Shahan's wedding so there must be a connection there. I suspect John Barry was married to a Connor sister.
I am most grateful for your assistance
warm regards,
