My GG Grandma Ann ( Anna Hannah) Ging born around 1851 roman chatholic)( married James Murray 21st May 1869 in Leixlip County kildare.  Ann gave birth to her first child Margaret Murray 11th March 1870 in Leixlip, Margaret was baptised on the 20th March 1870 at church of our ladys nativity leixlip.

By 1871 James, Ann and Margaret left Ireland for England, the family can next be found on the 1871 census for Blackburn Lancashire England.

I know for sure Margaret was born in Leixlip Ireland as I have obtained a birth certificate for her but the marriage entry into the the church for church of our ladys nativity has the name of James Murray and  Annastaia Ging the entry also states that James Murrays parents lived in Blackburn Lancashire England also that James lived in the Royal barracks Dublin and Annastatias mother was called May Ging.

I think the name Annastatia puzzled me as Ann diddent use that name, but when she appiled we think for her pension in 1911 when she was 6o years my grandma said she was suprised her name was different  than what she had used through her life, but my grandma diddent seem to know the name.

Does any one have any information about the Royal barracks Dublin also are ther any other Roman Catholic Churches in Leixlip around the time od Ann's birth other than the above.

Ann also talked about working in service for a Doctor we think it could have been Leixlip if Ann was born there,

Could there be any records of ann working in service in Leixlip.

Thank you for any much needed information.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I believe that the Royal Barracks is what is now called Collins Barracks which is part of the National Museum of Ireland (which includes Collins Barracks, the Natural History Museum, Dubin and the Museum of County Life in Castlebar, Co. Mayo).

Records of those who were stationed there would have been records of the British government so the website of the National Archives in Kew, London will be of help to you where you can 'search for a person' here: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/looking-for-person/

In relation to Leixlip, you could have a look on Find My Past (a subscription site) to see if there are any Trade Directories that name a doctor/surgeon in Leixlip but I am not ware of any records that would tell you about any work Ann did there. You could try the Irish Newspaper Archives for a mention of her. Some of my ancestors are mentioned in local newspapers as they did well in exams/got were thought to be good jobs - it is a long shot though.

The church there was built in 1833 so I would think that it was the only RC church building at that time.

She may well have been named Anastasia and called Ann all her life. I have often heard of people named 'Baby' who didn't know their actual baptism names and there are a variety of nicknames that families use that can lead to similar confusion!

    Best wishes
