I am researching my husband's family- the OULAHAN family, and this is the information I have. My husband's 2xGreat Grandfather, Richard Oulahan came to the United States in about 1849. I have lots of information about him after coming to the states. He lived in New York and Washington, DC. He was baptized in St. Paul's Catholic Church in Dublin in 1822. His parents, John Oulahan and Alice (Alicia) Byrne both died in 1825. From newspaper articles, I learned that he then went to Tully, Kildare to live with his Grandparents, John Oulahan (Houlahan) who was married to a Miss McCabe. He may have been a farmer in East and/or West Tully. He died in 1834. I saw an article about his father and grandfather both being "a Kildare man". I don't have any "records" for them, just information I gathered from newspaper articles, and books. Richard's line is written up in John O'Hart's book, Irish Pedigrees, published around 1880. John O'Hart was an uncle of Richard's from his maternal side. This makes me feel pretty confident in the information, as Richard helped with the genealogy research for the book.  I am looking for information on the Oulahans from Tully or Kildare in general. I have some information from Griffith's Land Valuations, but I am not sure these are the correct Oulahans. I don't know where to look for records for them. Can anyone lead me in the right direction? How would I look for church records for County Kildare, not knowing the church they went to?  I am assuming they were Catholic since Richard was baptized Catholic. Thanks in advance!
