My great great grandfather is registered as born in Monasterevin (Ballyfarsoon), and also married to Ann Tully there in 1841 before the arrival of first born children John (1842) and Catherine (1846).

When Pat (Patrick) Nolan was born on December 31, 1820, in Kildare, Ireland, his father, William, was 21 and his mother, Isabella, was 22. He married Ann Tully in 1841 in Kildare, Ireland. They had seven children in 17 years. He died in March 1863 in Preston, Lancashire, at the age of 42.

I am looking for any living realtives of this line, and/or any graves or links to the Nolans of Monasterevin ahed of a vist form Australia in the second half of this year 2016. Appreciaet any help from Kildare!

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

We have very few parish liaisons in Co. Kildare and none in Monasterevin. I will contact our HQ to see if they have any contacts in Kildare. I checked the online irish phonebook http://www.eirphonebook.ie/#  which is only a partial listing of phone users. There are quite a few Nolans in Kildare and a couple in the Monasterevin area. Our privacy rules prevent me from giving you the info directly but you can look up the info. Make sure you use the Residential Tab when you search.

By the way, records for the RC parish go back to 1819 and here is a link to the parish register http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0716

From this listing http://kildare.co/Recorded-Kildare-Graveyards.asp  there appear to be at least three cemeteries in the parish.

Enjoy your trip later this year.

  • Dear Nolanjd

Welcome to Ireland XO.  I'm a parish liaison for Kildare Town, just down the road from Monasterevin.  I'll take a look at your query and come back to you as soon as I can.  In the meantime I wonder if you can clarify where the information you have so far comes from.  Is it family knowledge or from research you've done yourself with documentary evidence?  It will really help me to get started.  Also, I would normally ask to start with yourself and work back from there to be sure I am looking at the right family etc. so if you can, and if you wouldn't mind passing on this information, could you email me at Kildare@IrelandXO.com with whatever you can.

    Many thanks.

    Linda

  • Hi Nolanjd,

Just wondering how your trip went. I live in Australia also and would like to know more!

I have discovered I have Ann Nolan who married John Blood probably in Monasterevin as their first 2 children were born there. 1857-1862. There is a Bridget Nolan and Hannagh Nolan who appear as sponsors on the different children's records. But that's all the info I have. I haven't figured out their parents yet as records are sparse and I simply don't know enough yet about researching skills. DNA testing confirms the Blood link and possibly maybe the Nolan link. It's undetermined at this stage.

I'd love to learn more about your adventures from Australia to Ireland albeit nearly 5 years later.

    :)
