There is a COI baptism of an Elizabeth Bateman, Nov. 1, 1823, father John Bateman, mother Ann (surname unknown), in Naas listed on the rootsireland website.   This baptism is possibly that of my gr-gr-grandmother, but I can't be sure without seeing if there is any additional information that was not transcribed.    I would dearly love to see an image of this baptism but I can't find any source.   I have looked on Familysearch, however it does not list any church records for Naas on their library listings.   Does anyone know where the parish records are held and if there is a microfilm copy of them somewhere?

Many thanks in advance!    Tom

  • Tom,

My understanding is that the originals of the NAAS COI parish records (which start in 1679) are in the Representative Church Body (RCB) library in Dublin with a microfilm copy in the National Archives, also in Dublin. I don’t think the original images are on-line anywhere yet.

  • Elwyn,

Thank you very much for your quick response to my query!   I've just had a look at the RCB library website and I can't see a way to request a copy of an entry in a parish record.   Do you know if they have a copy service?   I am in Canada and so cannot make the trip there to see it myself!

    Thank you!   Tom

  • Tom,

I don't think they have a copy service. You would probabyl need to hire a researcher to call and get the reocrd for you.

  • Elwyn, thank you for your assistance and comments on this question.   I did hire a researcher to visit the RCB Library and obtained a scanned copy of the baptism entry in the parish register.   Unfortunately it did not provide any additional information beyond what is transcribed on the rootsireland.ie website as quoted in my first post.    The search continues......
