Usher Tinkler married in Rathangan in 1854 to Mary Hagerty 

Daughter Sarah married Michael McKenna in 1881and emigrated to Liverpool in England. 

I have visited Rathangan but failed to find Usher's grave. 

There is still family in the town, namely the Smith family decendants of Annie Lawler nee McKenna.

Interested in making contact.

    There are 7 Smiths & 1 McKenna in the Irish phone book (www.118.ie/) in Kildare - might be worth dropping them a line of you don't get any of them replying to your post

  • Cheers for that - yes I have the date of Usher's death - I found it in the Church of Ireland registers when I visited the town in 1987.  I had expected to find a gravestone but no luck even though another relative said it was there.  Maybe I need to find someone on the ground over there.  Time will tell.
