I am looking for the birth details of my Grandfather Hugh Kelly.  His father was James Kelly, a retired Postal Official according to Hugh's Marriage Certificate.  The 1911 census in England shows the person that I believe to be my Grandfather with a birth place of Thomastown, Kilkenny and a birth year around 1875.  If anyone is able to look up parish records and give me more information, I would be most grateful.

  • Hi Emma

Thank you for your most helpful information and suggestions.  I did not know that Civil Registration was compulsory at that time.  I will also take the opportunity of trawling the Family Search Collection you suggested.

    Thanks again,
