Info on the Hewetsons.

Hi Jeremy

I searched www.rootsireland for the above birth/baptism in Kilkenny without success.

I then tried for Hewetson with no first name and no parents' names entered and got 14 matches.

No luck on ancestry.com or Irish Genealogy.

The Tithe Applotments (free online) have 2 Hewetsons in Kilkenny in 1828 - no Charlton however.

There is a marriage record of Charlton Hewetson on rootsireland in Kilkenny but it is 1854.

Given that Charlton is not a common name I wonder if it might be worth tracing this line back?

Many thanks for your info-any advice as far as tracing Charlton Hewetson back to his parents-there is a good chance of him being related(my great uncle's name was also Charlton)i.e.my grandfather's brother.Wallace is also a family name.

Hi,

Charles Hewetson and  Charity Stuart were the parents of Wallace Stuart Hewetson according to John Hewetson's essay, the Hewetsons of Kilkenny. From information on various resources including will extracts and birth registrations Charlton Hewetson was their son and the family lived near Johnstown, Kilkenny. I believe my gr.gr. grandmother was Charlton Hewetson's sister. Can supply more details and references.
