  • Dear Teresa

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

Do you have the names of any of the Boyd family as there are quite a few listed in Kilkenny.

    Thanks

  • Hello Clare, The Boyd names I have are Alexander Boyd possibly his brother Thomas Boyd, his son Thomas Moore Boyd his sisters Mary and Frances. Any infrmation about the family would be appreciated. Thank you.

  • Dear Teresa

I wasn't able to find a marriage or baptism record for Alexander. Neither could I locate a baptism for a son. RC records for that parish begin in 1858  so there will be no baptism, marriage or death record for anyone in the family before that time (assuming they lived in that particular parish and not another).

There are a couple of Thomas Boyd entries in the Tithe Applotment Books but I can't be sure if they are your ancestors:

I don't see a Boyd for that parish on Griffith's Valuation. Between 1806 and 1868 there doesn't seem to be any church burial records either.

If you happen to find out any more about them let us know.

  • Hi Clare, I think Thomas, Mary and Frances Boyd mentioned in the Tithes are relevant.  They were C of I and lay impropriators. Is there a Protestant graveyard in the area?

    T.K.

  • Hi Teresa

I believe there is a Church of Ireland graveyard at Ballynamorahan. It seems there is a book published about it including transcriptions. You can read about it here:
