My father Denis O Neill was born to Bridget O Neill on 8/7/39 in Holles St. Hospital Dublin. Her address was given as Skeard Kilmacow. We have been trying to trace family for my dad. He is now 76yrs and he would love to know if he has any relatives alive. He was "boarded out" to a lady in donegal from a "home" in Dublin when he was a little over 3yrs. He is so happy to know that his roots are in Kilkenny...He has visited the county several times without ever knowing his mother originated from there! We hope to take him to visit the area soon. We have been unable to advance our search as we do not have a date of birth for his mother....nothing from parish records...nothing from state records. Can anyone help??? Skeard townland is in Dunkitt civil parish just to the east of Kilmacow civil parish. I checked the 1911 census for that townland and there were no O'Neills listed. That area is within the Waterford registration district. You would need to know her approximate year of birth to possibly find her civil birth index record. The other complicating factor is that her name is very common. You can also check the online Irish phone book for O'Neills near Kilmacow. I took a quick look and there are at least two records in the area.
