Hi,
I have been researching my family tree for a while and i am looking to try and find some relatives in Kilkenny.
My great-grandfather, John Mcgrath was born in Burnchurch, on January 18, 1842, he married Mary Bryne, who was born in 1840, in Danesfort, on 6 August, 1866.
They had the following children, Ellen Mcgrath, born 1 Jan 1868, in Kilkenny, Mary Mcgrath, born 15 April, 1869, in Farmley, Kilkenny, William Mcgrath, born 1871, in Burnchurch, Katie McGrath, born 15 April, 1874, in Shea, Kilkenny, John Mcgrath, born 6 Sept 1875, in Haggarts Green, Kilkenny, and finally, my grandmother, Johanna Mcgrath, born 1882, in Newton, Kilkenny.
John McGrath senior was a coachman at Kilkenny Castle, and some of the family also worked there, John junior was a joiner, i think.
My grandmother met and married my grandfather, Alfred Thompson, who was a gardener at the castle, in 1911, they left Ireland for England a few years after their marriage, when i believe that the castle was used as a hospital during the First World War.
I have found many relatives in America, Canada and Australia, but would love to find some in Kilkenny, I visited Kilkenny a couple of years ago, but had no luck then. Would love to come back again, if my search is succesfull.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I believe this is the 1911 census record for John and Mary with daughter Joanna on Abbey St. The record indicates six living children and obviously Joanna was one leaving five. Can you account for the other five? Did they stay in Ireland?
