I am trying to find Anne Campion who married Michael Gibson in 1893.  Her father's name was Kieran (or a variation of that spelling) or perhaps Harnan (the name is difficult to read on the marriage cert).  Anne was from Kilkenny and I believe she was born around 1875 approximately. I would like to locate a birth record for her.  Any help will be appreciated!

I finally found the marriage record and it occurred in Co. Offaly. See below for the civil record. The transcription of the name of the Father was Keernan. They lived in Clonygowan townland in Ballykean civil parish not far from the Co. Laois border.

I looked for 1875 birth record for Anne. There were a toal of four in 1875-1876 but none had a father' name close to Keernan.

  • Hi Roger,

Thank you for your reply.  I agree that Keernan appears to be the father's name.  It is a mystery to me why I can't find her birth record.  This is my grandmother so I would have thought I wasn't searching so far back that I couldn't find a record.  Sorry I am so slow to reply - I wish I had time to do some serious research.  Her birth record may have never been filed and so I need to look at parish baptismal records to find her.  I appreciate all you did to look into this.  As you poke around in records, I hope that you'll remember Anne Campion and if you come across anything of interest that you will share.  I will check here more often!

    Many thanks,

    Caroline Gibson Clegg
