Hi
I know that I may of have been this road, but given some new info on things thought I would try again.
In 1833 my 4 x G Granda Denis Quigley was born to parents High Quigley + Mary McGuire. Around 1855 Denis moved to Scotland and married his wife Sarah McGinnes in 1855 here in Greenock. From what I have learned since is that Denis was given as coming from the Parish of Eschine, londonderry in Donegal. I think they actually meant Iskaheen
On his 1st childs birth cert it states that he came from just Donegal. I have looked at a possible place called Quigley's Point which lies in the parish of Iskaheen and Upper Moville,
Again his father Hugh was quoted as being a farmer, but again I was told that Farmer was just a common term used for anyone who worked on the land and may not have been a landholder. Cannot find hugh in any records from Scotland in either Census records or death certs.but know he was alive at least in 1863 for the wedding of another son John born around 1837 in Donegal and married in Glasgow Scotland.
I would love to know exactly where they came from, as I am planning a trip to Ireland soon and want to visit the old villages/towns where my ancestors may of lived.
Hope this helps a bit.

The RC parish of Iskaheen doesn?t have any baptism or marriage records prior to 1858, so it doesn?t seem that you?ll be able to locate the family via church records.
Iskaheen includes the civil parishes of Muff and Moville Upper. I searched the tithe applotment records for those 2 parishes. Most farmers should be listed in
those records. I found a Hugh Quigley in Ballyargus, in Moville Upper. He had a small farm of 1 acre, 3 roods and 12 perches. That was the only Hugh Quigley in either parish at that time.

Searching Griffiths Valuation for 1857, the only Hugh Quigley in the Iskaheen area lived in Magheralahan. He was on plot 2, which was a total of 25 acres which he farmed with 2 other people (Patrick Brislan & Catherine Logue). That farm today was just off the east side of the R 240 from Quigleys Point to Carndonagh.
Back in Ballyargus the only Quigley was a Susan Quigley (who was probably a widow).
Ballyargus and Magherlahan fall within Inishowen civil registration district. Searching from 1864 to 1901 I can see just 2 Hugh Quigley deaths in that area. One was 1781 to 1868, the other 1814 ? 1874. You might want to order copies of those certificates to see if either fits your family.
Here?s some families in Ballyargus in the 1901 census:

There were no Quigleys in Magheralahan by 1901.
