My ggg-grandfather Daniel Cashin/Casheen (c. 1804-1865) lived in Killahy, Urlingford with his wife/ my ggg/grandmother Ellen Rooney (c.1812-c.1870).  Their children were Edmond, John, Mary, James, Ellen, Judith, Catherine, Bridget, Patrick, Margaret, Julia, Michael, William, and Ohara(?).

Daniel was born in Ballinakill, Co. Laois, and Ellen was born in Brittas, Freshford.  They both died in West Hurley, Ulster, New York where they emigrated with several of their children including Catherine, my gg- grandmother.

I am looking for confirmation of the info I have as well as any info on descendants of any of the children mentioned who may have remained in Ireland.  Thank you !

  • There are  a few websites that hold records.

www.rootsireland.ie has a searchable database of Catholic Church records. There is a fee for using the site but it can be purchased on a daily, monthly or yearly basis.

Civil records are available on the link below

    https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/

The census 1901/1911 census are available to search on http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/

    Property records

Records of a place can provide useful information about where your ancestors lived. The main sources for records of place are Griffith's Valuation, the Tithe Applotment Books, estate papers and maps. They are available at https://www.nli.ie/en/griffiths-valuation.aspx

I hope you will be able to find some information to help through these sites.

If you have already searched and found nothing, please let me know and i will do a search for you
