Aghaboe would be in the baronies of both Clandonagh and Clarmallagh, Queen's County in the province of Leinster; it lies near the town of Roscrea on the way to Dublin. Burros in Ossory would also be in the same parish and has a population of 6196 people. The lands in this area is known as 'the field of the ox'. Takes its name from the high quality of land and its pasturisation. Long ago the town became the seat of the diocese which comprised the district of Ossory; a monastery there turned into a Cathedral of the see of Aghaboe. It continued under a number of bishops in a way that the religion was very important to them. That continueded right up until the 12th century. The 'rath of lars' used to one time be an ancient fortification in the parish.
