Looking for information on Patrick Farrell (1839) wife Ellen Byr son Thomas Farrell(1857). Thomas married Sarah Brigid McGrath. I do not know if they married and then emigrated or emigrated and then married. I do know they emigrated through Motherwell Scotland and then on to NY, USA taking up residence in Brooklyn. Family history says; Brigid McGrath family had some money. Farrell's did not. McGraths could have been Protestant. Farrell's are Catholic. I do find a 1901 census in CLoonmorris roosky that has the right names but not all the right ages. Which may not negate this as my ancestors were known to lie or have regularly incompetent census takers.
I will be in Ireland the 19th-29 of Sept and plan to do some looking around
Thanks

Another possibility.
I looked at the 1857 Griffiths Valuation head of household listings for Cloone civil parish. The only Patrick Farrell was living in Drumshanbo North townland. Not sure if the 1839 year of birth is correct for Patrick. Normally an 18 year old would not have land but since his son was born in 1857 possibly it was him.
I also looked at the 1901 census for Drumshanbo North and there was a Farrell family living there. The head of household was John age 43. The oldest son was Patrick and if they followed naming conventions then his grandfather would have been Patrick.
Finally, the Mormon Church has microfilmed church records for Cloone which go back to 1820. You can order the film online at www.familysearch.org and view the film at a local Mormon Family History Center.
