I am descended from Robert H Dickson (1855-1925) who emigrated to the US around 1871. His parents James J Dickson (1807-1872) and Elizabeth Sharpe (1825-1901) had seven other children who lived into adulthood. One of those, Walker J Dickson (1847-1929) remained on the family farm, married Maria Jane Cunningham (1858-1928) and had ten(!) children living into adulthood. I believe three of those stayed in Ireland, including Thomas Wm. Dickson (1893-1935) who stayed on the Tawley farm and had 3 daughters (2 of whom may still be living) and a son Walter (1931-2011), a stone mason who had two sons, who may still be in Tawley.
There is an audio recording of Walter
that I would like to obtain, but the site https://www.irishlifeandlore.com/product/walter-dickson/ is quite unreliable and I've been unable to purchase the MP3 there.
I'll also note that the 1901 census showed four Dickson families in Tawley.

We suspect all are related, but have records for only Walker C. (older) and Walker J. (younger).
If you have any (corrections) or enhancements of my notes on the Dicksons of Tawley I'd appreciate it, especially if you know of any of my relatives who may still be there. I plan to visit the area in September this year.

Hi Doug!
I'm glad to see you used my 1901 census data base to search for your Dickson families.
If you have not done so already, could you complete this form regarding your September trip? https://www.irelandxo.com/meet-and-greet
I did a little research and the second Dickson family headed by Mary Dickson were Roman Catholic, Her deceased husband was Daniel. Mary's maiden name was Feely.
I assume you have seen this web site https://www.tullaghan.com/local-history.php

Thank you, Roger,
I hadn't seen the Tullaghan history page, the link is much appreciated!
I did submit a meet-and-greet form a couple days ago.
Yes, the Mary Dickson family were Roman Catholic, and the other three families Church of Ireland.

Update: the Irish Life & Lore web site came back today, and I was able to purchase and download the Walter Dickson audio files.
