My daughter is planning on visiting Ireland in September. One of our Irish ancestors in Philip Kernan from Leitrim (don't know the town). Does anyone have any suggestions as to where the Kernans may have originated from and where she can go to visit? Thanks!

The surname was likely Kiernan or McKiernan. In fact there were over 230 Kiernan/McKiernan families in the 1901 census. can you provide more details on Philip Kernan (approximate year of birth, year left Ireland, parents names) etc.
