I am looking for information on my family. My great grandfather was Michael Roche – born 21 Feb 1866 in Abbeyfeale, Limerick, Ireland.  His parents were Patrick Roche and Margaret Daniher.  I am hoping you will be able to help me with leads to my family. I looked at one of the cemeteries in Abbeyfeale to possibly connect with Patrick or Margaret but do not have birth dates so am not sure which way to go.

  • I'm afraid I have located my Roches in Co Mayo.  My Wm Roche had already immigrated to Baltimore (1851) long before your Michael had been born.  Sorry!

    Roots Ireland www.rootsireland.ie has an 1858 marriage record for a Patrick Roche and a Margaret Daniher in the Monagea RC records. Monagea is the nest parish northeast of Abbeyfeale.

    Roots also has an 1831 and 1836 baptismal records for a Margaret Daniher in the Monagea records.Not sure which record may be your Margaret .

    Roots is a pay site to view a transcription of a church record.

    My Dad was Michael Roche was Abbeyfeale ( passed away 18th Jan 2012, 83 years old) his Father was Edward Roche and his Granfather was Michael Roche, so maybe there is a connection( or is the same person... Dad is buried in the Old Graveyard in the square in Abbeyfeale along with his parents and gran parents.. I must have a look at the headstone and see what dates are on it. I also live in Abbeyfeale..

    I'm not sure if you're still following this thread.

    There's a chance you may be referring to my Great Grandfather's family. Do you know if Michael had a brother named Richard/Ricardus born around 1845 Abbeyfeale? The parents' names are the same.
