Searching for my G Grandfathers Parents

I went to the Mormon research site www.familysearch.org to search for the marriage index record for Bernard and Mary. By the way, it looks like her surname was Harnett. I found a marriage index record for 1876 in the Newcastle registration district. If you write to the GRO www.groireland.ie fill out their form and provide the year of marriage, registration district (Newcastle) and the volume and page number (5 and 580), you can get a copy of the record which should show the father's names and the townlands they lived in. At the same site, I found two baptismal index records, one for a Michael born January 14, 1877 and a Johanna born April 8, 1878. The location shown was Garravane which I can not find in the official list of townlands. Possibly it is Garrane in Mahoonagh civil parish but if you get the marriage record, you will know for sure.

Thank you so much for that info. I found the following info on Wikipedia about Garravane, Mountcollins.

Mountcollins (Irish: Chnoc U? Cho?le?in) is a village in the extreme south west of County Limerick, Ireland, barely 100 metres from the border with County Kerryand just a mile from County Cork. The River Feale runs parallel to the village and is fed by the Caher River that divides the village. Mountcollins is in the Parish of Mountcollins-Tournafulla.

I had heard through another source that my GGrandparents did indeed live in Garravane before they moved to New Zealand, so we are on the right track.

I have only been home in NZ for a little more than a week after touring through the UK and Ireland for 5 weeks. As I was travelling with a group, time was limited, but I did manage a couple of hours in Abbeyfeale. I found Ireland to be the most wonderful country and I cannot wait to return there.
