  • Dear Tamzine:

Many thanks for your post to the Ireland Reaching Out message board and welcome to the website!

The civil parish of Aghlishcormick is the RC parish of Kilteely.

The Roots Ireland database gives the names of two children born to William Murnane and Ellen Coffey.

Patrick baptised 1818 and Catherine baptised 1825.  I have attached the screenshots for your reference.

You will note that the reference for the parish is Murroe/Boher for Catherine and Pallasgreen and Templebreedin for Patrick.

The Roots Ireland site is a subscription site, but may be worth taking a small subscription out in order to take a more in-depth look at the records yourself.

In addition, the registers for Kilteely are available online through the NLI.  The link for the parish registers is listed below:

The very best of luck with your research!

    Kind regards,

    Jane.

  • Hello,

I am researching my 5th Great Grandmother and Grandfather William Murnane b. 1768  and Ellen b. 1768.  Through Ancestry.com.au i am led to believe they are possibly from this Parish?   I also have that they are possibly from Ballybricken?

William and Ellen (Keogh) children were

    Jeremiah b. 1793

    Cornelius Patrick b. 1796

    Michael b. 1806

    John b. 1807

    Patrick b. 1808

    Thomas b. 1808

I belieave that William was sent as a convict on the Three bees to Australia in 1814 and then three of his sons Michael, Patrick and Thomas in 1836 were also sent to Australia as convicts on the Earl Grey.

  • Dear Tamzine:

There are Murnanes showing up on the Transportation Register from the National Archives but the years appear to be different from what you have.

You might take a look at these to see if they might be of any assistance to you:

    http://findingaids.nationalarchives.ie/index.php?category=18&subcategory=147

You can type in the "Murnane" name and 9 entries will appear.

If you need further assistance, please let me know.

    All the best

    Jane.

  • Hi Tamzine

I know this is an old thread but William and Ellen are my 4th great-grandparents, so we are related!

I descend from their son Cornelius and live in Australia.

    Regards
