I really appreciate the reply!

I hadn't come across the Bridget or Peggy Supple records before - it would be great to confirm who Clarinda's mother was, and also to confirm William Supple's parents.

John Downey's parents are definitely Timothy Downey and Mary Ryan - you can see the it on the baptism cert I linked to in my first post. That was from Kildimo parish records.

I would love to find Timothy and Mary's baptism or marriage records.

No luck with the above, Brian but Clarinda is so uncommon that perhaps she was recorded as something else at birth/baptism?

There are 27 Supple Baptism records for Ardcanny & Chapel Russell Parish (C I) 1803-79; assuming the marriage took place in the bride's home parish as was the custom

If Clarinda was married in 1856 she was probably born & baptised around 1835; 

These are the only 2 with father William of the right age

You are probably right that maybe Clarinda was not her birth name. The strange thing is that Peggy is usually short for Margaret, and Clarinda's daugher was named Margaret. But why would the baptism say Peggy and not Margaret?

Where did you find the Peggy Supple birth record? Is there a Protestant birth records website?
