Tierneys of Gardenhill, Castleconnell, Limerick

Edward Tierney, son of John Tierney and Bridget Kett, was born Roman Catholic on Bog Road in Gardenhill, Castleconnell, Limerick, in Ireland, in about 1905.
His siblings were Martin; Mary; Johanna; John, James, Edward, Thomas, Hannah, Dennis, Eliza & Daniel. Half Siblings were Patrick & Michael Moloney.
He didn't marry in Ireland.
He left Ireland in 1930 and went to New York, the United States.

Looking for information or resources to find information about the way of life in Gardenhill during my great grandfathers childhood. I have joined the histroricial society on facebook but there is not a ton of information. Things I am interested in learning include where he would have gone to school, are there any records from there? What would his house of looked like, what was the town like during this period? What the process of immigration looked like, his journey to Queenstown (Cobh). 

Would love to hear any and all history you may have to share.
