Hi,
Wonder if anyone can help please.
My grandmother Evelyn Humphries born 25th March 1907 was born in Croom out of wedlock.
Think her father was Thomas Ryan but no idea of her birth mother's name.
There is no birth certificate.
I have tried to find her baptiism record to no avail.
Found her marriage in Cork to my grandad.
She was adopted by Michael and Christina Kenny approx aged 4 years old that is all the information I have so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Linda

Hi, Could you clarify her birth name? Was it Humphries or was that her married name?
Would you post her marriage record here?
Thanks.

Hi Patricia,
Thanks for replying.
Evelyn Humphries is her birth name as far as I am aware.
It is the name on her marriage certificate, which also says father unknown.
Her married name was Buckley,
I do not have a copy of her marriage certificate, I found it on line.
She married my grandad in 1928 in St Peters and Pauls in Cork.Kind Regards

Hi, I have found on Ancestry my grandmother on the 1911 Census.
She is written down as Eveline Ryan aged 4 adopted daughter of Michael and Christina Kenny.
It says Eveline was born in Croom.
At the time of the census she was living in Cork.Patricia, I am looking for the Marriage Certificate if I find it I will upload it.
Thanks

Looking at Eveline Ryan in the 1911 census, we see that her relationship to the head of household is “adopted child.” But this does not mean that her relationship to Christina was adoptee; perhaps Christina was actually her mother? If she was Eveline’s mother, the relationship to Michael should have been “stepchild.”
Christina, like Eveline, was born in Co. Limerick. Why was Eveline born in Limerick? Because that is where her mother lived?
It’s noteworthy that Michael Kenny was receiving a military pension. Military records might give more information about him and his family.Residents of a house 16.4 in James Street (Cork No. 7 Urban (part of), Cork)

Her father, deceased, was John McCormack; his father was Martin Kenny. Both men were soldiers. Witnesses: J. Cleary of New Barracks, Louisa RYAN of Walshe’s Lane.
Note that one of the witnesses was a Ryan.
The relationships have not been clarified yet, but hopefully this gives you a start.

Hi Patricia,
Thank you so much.
I am very grateful for your help.
Researching today I have found Louisa/Lauisa Ryan same address but as yet no connection to my grandmother.
On a hunch I looked for a Mary Humphries as my grandmother's first born was Mary.
Long story short I found both Mary and an Edmund Ryan they married in 1918 in Cappermore.
Not sure if I am on the right track.
I am researching the information you gave above and have found Christina's birth and marriage cetificates.Kind Regards
