Micheal Gallahue, son of Thomas and Ellen Gallahue, was born in County Limerick about 1820, came to America around 1850.  Micheal met and married Johanna McRaith in St. Paul, Minnesota and they raised their family in central Minnesota.  Johanna had emigated to America with many of her siblings from just across the Galtee Mountains in Ballyporeen in County Tipperary.

I'm hoping to find the location of the graves of Thomas and Ellen Gallahue in County Limerick so I can see them when I visit there at the end of October.  Can anyone tell me the location of a cemetery where they might be buried?  I believe their graves are near the ruins of a church on a hill in the area near the towns of Galbally, Ballylanders and Anglesboro.

Thank you for your help!

  • Hi Louise,

Thank you very much for your message. I hope that someone with information makes a connection with you before your visit.

It may be an idea to try to set up an appointment with the local parish priest during your visit. He may be able to advise you on what graveyard may be most likely given the description/timeframe atc. Or else he may be able to put you in contact with someone from the parish that can help or offer some advice. Here are the contact details:

Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.

    Kind regards,
