My great grandfather's brother Patrick and wife Bridget lived in Churchquarter Kilbehenny, and had 9 children from 1895 to 1911 as far as I know.

Are there any descendants still in the area? The children still alive in 1911 were Thomas, Patrick, John, James! Elizabeth and Joseph.

i would be pleased to hear from anyone!

  • Hello Tracey.

I have checked the Census 1911  http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/ where it shows them living in Churchquarter and working as a mason. Churchquarter takes in the area around the village of Kilbehenny.

It shows him as having been from Kings County which is present day county Offaly.

In 1901 he had been living in Beheneugh which is just above the village .

I will ask some people who would know of the family.

    Where are you living now?

  • Hallo Conor

I live in Salisbury, Wiltshire. Most of my great grandfather's family have ended up in the Uk, having been brought up in Kildorrery, Co  Cork.

Two younger brothers lived in Glanworth, Co Cork, and

i am hoping to find out more about them sometime!

    Best wishes

  • Hello Tracey,

I have asked around and was told that Duffy's, I presume your Duffy's,  lived in a house in the quarry in Kilbehenny.

One of them worked as a ganger (foreman) on the council and was given a council house in Furrow. His mother lived there with him.

    I will keep asking.
