I am searching for descendants of James O'Rourke and Alice Hannon born in the late 1700's.  Records lead me to believe they came from or lived in Kildimo and Pallaskenry, Limerick.  In particular, I would like to connect with any living descendats.  I will be happy to share what information I have.

  • Dear Isabelle

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

How much do you already know about the O?Rourke?s? There is a marriage record on rootsireland.ie for an Alice Hannon and James O?Rourke in Limerick in 1828. If you have a look at this it will confirm the parish for you.  There is also a baptism for a James in 1832 but as this is a subscription site, I cannot see the mother?s name.  Let me know what you think!

    Best wishes

  • Thank you for your information.  I looked at the marriage record and it states that it took place in Donaghmore, Limerick.  When I checked the topographical dictionary,  I couldn't find a Donaghmore in Limerick.  The most likely one is in Cashel.  But at the end of the comments, it said that the union of Domaghmore was contiguous with other parishes.  Is this referring to the Poor Law Union?

  • Hi Isabelle this site will give you a good idea of the various boundaries:
    http://www.irish-genealogy-toolkit.com/Irish-land-divisions.html

In relation to the above, Donaghmore is a Civil Parish and a RC Parish. Records there begin in 1830 for baptisms and 1827 for marriages.

This map link will also show you what the neighbouring civil parishes are
