Alexander O Hearn, born around 1831 gives Glin, Ireland as his place of birth. He was married to a Mary from Newtown, Ireland. ( I have this information from the UK census of 1851). They had a daughter Ellen who was born in 1869. I do not know if Ellen was born in Ireland.  Alexander is my great great grandfather and I would like to trace his family connections in Ireland. He came to Australia at some stage as did his daughter Ellen, my great grandmother. She was born in 1869.  It is reported  that Ellen arrived in Australia, a single woman with a new baby, Annie O Hearn. Her name was changed to Annie Burke when Ellen married a John Burke in 1893 in Adelaide, South Australia.  If anyone knows of any O Hearns from Glin or thereabouts I would be most grateful.

  • My Mangan ancestors also came from Glin to Adelaide, South Australia, so assume they probably knew each other!
