Thank you so very much for that information.  Is there an address for the Limerick Workhouse, or has it been dismantled and turned into something else?  Is that other address No 2 Colloney Street, Limerick where Michael had lived or is that the Workhouse?

Hi Pat,

You've been nusy on the genealogy! I had a look for some of your other ancestors but didn't have any luck so didn't respond.

I tried google earth for Connolly Street Limerick but there was only a Connolly Avenue; (no 2 in the record was Parish District no). When I searche for Workhouse nothing came up.

I'm not a Limerick expert but my son-in-law is a Limerick lad so I'll email him.

Update Pat.

My son-in-law & his dad discussed the workhouse question.

There was a Colooney St which became Wolf Tone Street; there is now a barracks there so maybe...?

Also 'A new Limerick Workhouse was built in 1839-41 on an 11 acre site on the east side of Shellbourne Road across the Shannon to the north-west of the city'. Would he have been in this one in 1891?

There would be people around who would know where the workhouse was but it's hard to know where to find them.

Have just found an entry on the ship's manifest saying that Michael Lahiff was still alive in 1854, living in St. Patricks, Limerick and that his wife, Bridget McNamara had already died.  Does this lead us in any other direction?

Sorry Col, I mistyped in the death date of  Michael Lahiff in my records as 1851 when it was 1891, which makes it really a perfect match, so I think that this may be him.   Thank you once again for all your efforts and suggestions.
