I pulled these records from RootsIreland. You might already have?? It looks like you have identified the right family since they are blacksmiths and Daniel was the informant at his father’s death. My McCarthy family came from Darranstown, Bulgaden-Martinstown, Limerick which is close to Knockainey. Where do you have your DNA results?

Mary, I am overwhelmed!  I know many of my relatives are from Ireland but this is the first confirmation of an actual place. I can’t thank you enough. It feels nice to know where your family are from. I was just in Limerick County last week which is what prompted me to finally make contact. Many many thanks. My DNA is at Ancestry and WikiTree.     Would be great if we have a connection.  The one connection I found was a family that moved to Australiain the 1800s.  Father was Patrick Murphy but the ages were not right...maybe an uncle or older brother.  Best wishes!

Yes! My tree is Tough Family Tree. DNA is attached to svostinato. Their should be two sets managed by that listing, a 3rd family member, 1st cousin, is listed under Zippilli49 that should also be a McCarthy match. Let me know if you can’t locate. I’m on a sailboat in the Med so my WiFi is a bit sketchy.  I tried to find the contact from Australia for you too but I will need better WiFi.

Thanks for trying. I tried a search of my cousin and came up empty too. It would of been great to connect. I wonder if our families are related. My GG grandparents were Jeremiah Murphy and Mary McCarthy and family lore has it that they were 1st cousins: his mother was Mary McCarthy and father was possibly Edmond Murphy. Edmond came from County Limerick, Kileedy Parish, Darrery/Dairbhre Townland.

Jeremiah was born in 1825 or 1826 in Kileedy, County Limerick. His wife Mary McCarthy was probably born in Kanturk, County Cork in 1826. They married in Canada in 1850. My G Grandmother, Ellen Murphy, was born on April 4, 1850 in Ontario Canada.

Jeremiah, his 8 brothers, and his mother, Mary, emigrated to Canada following the death of his father Edmond Murphy. They all came to Wisconsin and settled in the Pine Bluff area, many on farms near each other.

I have come across the name Hanora several time in my sporadic genealogy searches.

Hi Linda. Thanks for your reply. I have seen Jermiah and wife Mary several times in my research of my dna matches. I have not figured out if Mary might be Michael McCarthy’s sister or if it’s through the Murphy side. Since his 8 brothers went with him to Canada that seems like it might be a dead end. Michael McCarthy’s son, Daniel McCarthy and his wife Ellen Murphy came directly to Massachusetts from Ireland around 1879.  Are you listed on Ancestry or WikiTree?
