Hello,
My grandparents-grandparents:Edmond O'Grady and wife, Johanna McCann came from Ireland around the time of the Famine
with their oldest children, James and Mary. They settled, briefly, on Prince Edward Island in Canada.
The earliest records I have is the baptism/birth of my great-grandfather, Nicholas Douglas Grady in 1848 and his brother, Edward Grady in 1844.
Edmond Grady is listed in some Canadian Records as Edward Grady, but the family tradition is his name was Edmond.
Nicholas moved to Maine, married and fathered my grandfather, Raymond Grady. Nicholas is buried in Maine and his mother, Johanna McCann is buried on Prince Edward Island.
I found Johana McCann listed in the Tithe Applotment Books for Limerick: Hospital Parish and Town of Ballycahill. I am hoping to find birth and marriage records for Edmond and Johanna and birth records of James and Mary.
When I posted on the message Board for Hospital, I received a suggestion that I repost in Knockainey since there were a number of Grady and O'Gradys here.
I was overwhelmed at the grave stones project. Of course, without birthdates or more names, I could not link to any specific stone. But just seeing the photos made my hears spin.
I would appreciate any assistance or guidance anyone can offer in finding more details of my family.

Hi Mary Lou we are looking at the gradys in knockainey in the same time period looking at any Patrick's or Michael's, but we seem to have DNA natches to a family with a david grady and a Bridget gready Sullivan as well are you on ancestry? Julie nsw australia

I have a Bridget Catherine Sullivan but her maiden name was O'Neil. No David Grady that I know of, sorry. Of course, I have very little info on the Grady/McCann side. Just the Tithe Applotment for Johanna McCann--which would seem to indicate she was a widow. I have no confirmed records for Eamonn O'Grady in Ireland. Prince Edward Island land records have Johanna McCann farming next to another McCann who may or may not be related. Johanna's grave is on Prince Edward Island. I am having difficulty finding all of her children but at least 2 ended up in Maine, US.
I have not found any family members that went to Australia. But that may be a matter of focusing on the names I have which are all US. Do you have both Australia and US locations?
