Hi
I am researching the Nash and McDonnell families. I have a marriage certificate of John McDonnell and Bridget Nash (married 12 August, 1858 in Sydney, Australia). Bridget's birthplace was listed as County Limerick and her father listed as Maurice Nash and mother Ellen Madden.
John's birthplace is County Cavan his father listed as Patrick McDonnell and mother Ellen Clarke.
I hope to find anyone researching these family groups.

I looked at the 1850 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Co. Limerick and there was one Maurice Nash listed. See below. Not sure if he was the father of your Bridget Nash.
I also checked Roots Ireland www.rootsireland .ie which is a pay site to view a record. There is an 1829 baptismal record of a Bridget Nash whose parents were Maurice Nash and Ellen Madden. Likely this is your Bridget. www.rootsireland.ie

Thank you so much for your effort in searching and providing the information on the Nash family. It is a great starting point for me.
I will have a look at the RootsIreland site and see what else I can find.
I see your surname is McDonnell I am also searching for McDonnell family information. As you will note my surname is McDonald but it was changed by my great grandfather, Patrick McDonnell sometime during his lifetime. He was born 1859 in Australia.

My McDonnells come from the Co. Mayo/Co.Roscommon border near the town of Ballaghaderreen. My grandfather, Patrick McDonnell emigrated to Philadelphia in 1907. McDonnell is a fairly common name with different "clans" mainly one in Mayo, another in the Northern Ireland and a third in Leinster (Laois, Dublin). Not sure if there is a large number in Limerick.
I'm currently exploring DNA through Family Tree DNA. I've taken the Y-DNA test which strictly focuses on the straight paternal line. (Only males can take the Y-DNA test). There is a Clan Donald DNA project http://www.dna-project.clan-donald-usa.org/
If you have a brother or your father is living you may want to explore Y DNA testing for genealogy purposes. You can take the mtDNA test which looks strictly at the maternal line (your mother, her mother etc) and also an autosomal DNA test which looks at your paternal and maternal DNA and identifies possible genetic cousins. I'm currently waiting for results on the mtDNA and autosomal tests. Very instesting process. I'm just starting to understand a little bit about DNA.

I'm related to the Maurice Nash/ Ellen Madden families. Yes that's Bridget's father in Finnoo. He died in 1856 long before Ellen Madden migrated to Australia. Maurice Nash's father also came to Australia.
