We have traced the Wards back to an 1815 map with William Ward and partners prominent. I have a large family tree from there but trying to fill more gaps. Surnames connected include : Ward, O'Shea, Ryan, Hayes, Maloney, Noonan, Mulcahy, O'Brien and more. Lines in Australia, USA and Ireland.   Tony Ward.

  • I am just getting started with this.  And I find the process confusing in this site.

    But I searched for Noonan and found you.  Maybe this is a starting point.

    My great-grandfather was Jerimiah Noonan, born 1851 ( possible Oct) or 1852 in Ireland.  I have not definitely verified which date is correct.  I do have a couple of pictures of him as an old man.  One of the photos is a wedding group portrait fo his family, wife and eight daughters and one son. He was living in Elmira New York at the time.

    If you have any information that might be my relative, I would like to know more and share more.

  • I tried to leave a message on other pages/boards of this website, but could not find how to do it.

    So I did a search for "Noonan" and found this post.  I do not know what parish, and I only suspect my great-grandfather was from County Cork - as my mother sometimes made vague mention of this.

    Can you refer me to the proper place to do this?  Or refer me to a person knowlegable about that area?

    My great-grandmother's parents were born in Ireland - Margaret Commerford, who was born in Katherine New York.

    That's where the trail begins, and now I have to work backwords.  If someone is looking for Jerimiah ( I have my grandmother's wedding announcement so I know that to be the proper - if unusual - spelling) I have pictures and would be glad to share them.

    Your best option is to write all details you know  on the County Cork message boards if you dont know the parish.                       Some one might see it and be able to help!
