I realize this is wishing and hoping but.....

My husband never knew his birth father, Don/Donal Farrel, so we have very little information to begin our research.  We do have a couple of different documents stating that Don Farrel's father was named John and that Don and, we believe, John , were both born in New Mexico, USA.  Don was born Jan 1903 in Santa Fe.

We know Longford to be the "home" county to the Farrells and we are hoping someone there remembers an old family story about the Farrels who wound up in the wilds of New Mexico.

Thanks in  advance for any assistance.

  • Hi Priscilla

I just typed out all the info on ancestry for you then realised it was your tree!!

    There are 257 Farrells born /baptised 1800 + - 5 years in Longford!

There are 85 Farrells in Longford in the Irish phone book (free online) - you might want to try writing to some if you don't have any other responses.

We need John Farrell's NY birth record to get his parents' names and narrow down the Longford Farrells.

I notice your tree has Armagh as well as NY for a birthplace for John senior; there is a birth in Armagh 1828; there are also 16 John Farrells born in Longford 1829 + - 1 year.
