  • Hello Dennis,

It is useful to remember that in theory at least all marriages from 1864 onwards were recorded in the civil or state records, which are kept by law. The local Registrar of Births, Marriages and Deaths is in the Health Centre, Dublin Road, Longford. It is best to write to the office to request any relevant information. There is a small fee per search, however the information you get is more comprehensive than in the church record, including the names of the fathers of both parties. The details referred to by Aine are from the church records.

    Kind regards,

    Martin Morris
