I am looking for relatives of my Grandfather, James Redahan, came to America approximately 1900. He was born in 1884, Longford, Ireland.
He married Bridget Gould and had 5 children, Mary, Catherine, James, John and Alice. He arrived in the New England States of America.
Not sure how he entered the country, he did not come through Ellis Island.
Please if any has any information regarding the Redahan family I would appreciate any information. My mother Catherine is 96 and would love to hear anything about his family.
Thank you,
Patricia A Maloney

closest match I see on the BMD Index is the birth of a John James Redahan in 1880 in Granard district. Granard registration district covers parts of counties Cavan, Longford and Westmeath
Do you have marriage or death certs for your James ?
US versions of these often give parents name, which could help prove, or disprove, if that John James might be connected. He could even be an older brother, or even 'your' James and just went by his middle nameShane Wilson, IrelandXO Volunteer ☘

Hi Patricia
There is a record of the baptism of James REDEHAN 1880 Longford on www.rootsireland.ie/
The parish is DROMARD RC
http://ifhf.rootsireland.ie/quis.php?page=1&confirmPageView=Y
You need to pay to view the full record which MAY have his parents' names
I notice you have a tree on ancestry; I checked the immigration records on ancestry & there is 1 of a James Redehan arriving in Boston 27 Oct 1910 aged 19 on the Cymric; est birth year 1891
If you get his parents' names you / I could search for siblings
I couldn't find any Redahans in the current Irish phone book
There are no Redahans in Longford in the Tithe Applotments (1823-37) or Griffiths Valuation 1848-64 or the 1901 Irish Census (or earlier censuses) but there are 26 in the 1911 Census (free online)

Patti:
There were no Redahan families listed in the 1901 census in Co.Longford. There were two Redehan families living in Corglass townland Killoe civil parish. The smaller of the two families had a 20 year old James. Not sure if this is your family since you posted in Agharra parish but I thought I would provide the record.. Interestingly, these families were shown as Redahan in the 1911 census and the James was not listed.
