To mark the 100th anniversary of the end of WW1, Longford County Council, in partnership with the Peter Keenan Branch of the ONE are hosting an event in Longford town on Remembrance Sunday, 11th November, which will include a centenary Mass, and commemorative ceremony on Market Square, to be followed by an exhibition on Longford & the Great War in the Temperance Hall.

All are welcome. We would especially welcome those who have a family connection with WW1, whose relatives participated in any of the armed forces (British, Canadian, ANZAC or US) or who were non-combatant volunteers (Red Cross, St. John's Ambulance, Sphagnum Moss Co.)

There will be opportunities for them to participate on different elements of the event. There will also be an opportunity to lay a wreath/flowers at the cenotaph if they so choose. For more information, they may contact Longford Heritage Officer at the details below or by email to
