I am looking for information on a John Earley married to Margaret Jennett (my great-grandparents). The family were in Boston, MA, USA from 1887 onwards for sure where I've found birth and church records for the two youngest children. There is confusion / misinformation about the births of the two eldest children - Ireland vs. Boston - from 1877 to 1884, with no Massachusetts birth records to be found. Margaret Jennett Earley died in 1913 in Massachusetts at approximately 60 years of age - the only information provided on her death record is that her father was named James Jennett. However, other research has tied her to a couple of brothers who also came to the US - but farther west in Indiana - with roots to Louth.
John Earley's death record (1916 in Massachusetts) at approximately 63 years of age gives his father as John.
I have found a marriage record of a John Earley to Margaret Monaghan in Louth (1870's), followed by a death record for Margaret Earley, and another marriage record of John Earley to Margaret Jennett in 1886.
I'm wondering if John's first wife died and then he remarried.....In which case the two eldest children might actually have been born in Ireland to the first wife.
Any information or suggestions for further research would be appreciated.
thank you.

Martha:
Below are four records you can review to try to determine if some or all are for your family. The first two are in the RC church in Louth and the last two in Tallanstown. The mother is Margaret Monaghan/Mollakan on three of the records and Mary Monaghan on the first record.

yes - these are the birth records I have seen and which provoked my suspicions of two marriages!
My grandfather, Tom, was born in Boston in 1891 - records found.
His eldest brother was Robert, whose official documents (WWI draft, etc.) list his birth as Nov 1880 in Boston - but no records can be found.
His eldest sister was Alice Mary - who never gave her exact age on any official documents, but it was approximately 1884 give or take a couple of years, and whose place of birth was sometimes listed as Ireland, and sometimes as Boston. No official records can be found in Boston.
These two names are pretty similar to two of the children above.
Also, the next child, Mary Alice, was born in Boston for sure in 1887 - and I've always thought it odd that they would name two sisters such similar names.....unless they were different mothers.
To further complicate matters, I can't find any immigration records on them, and there is an additional person in the household in the 1900 census listed as "stepdaughter", Margaret Shannon, born 1877. I can't find her before or after that one record - and no one ever mentioned her. It could be a mistake on the part of the census taker, or a child of Margaret Jennett prior to her marriage to John Earley.
Interesting puzzle.

Hi Martha
the attached website gives lots of information on County Louth without giving certificates, I searched Jennett and Jennette and both gave hits, the latter with the extra "E" gave a list of donors to a church build including 2 in the USA which may interest you,
Mr. Patrick Jennette, Teacher, Killany, 10/-, [Cooley]
Mr. Hugh Jennette, Louth, £10, [Louth]
Mr. Thomas Jennette, New York City, £10, [ACP]
Rev. John Jennette, Omaha, £5, [ACP]
Both variations of the name can be searched on http://www.jbhall.freeservers.com/index.html
The Early name can be found but as you have no doubt discovered it is more difficult as it is also an adjective. Have a similiar issues with one of my own names.
Hope you get some assistance anyway,
Regards
Pat
