Greetings All!

Trying to find info on a Mary Carroll married to Joseph Moyles (Miles, Myles) who had a son Edward Moyles in March 1795.  I have located Edward's actual baptismal record at Ardee but wonder if there is any way to locate any more info Mary Carroll and Joseph Moyles.  Would love to determine her parents and his parents as well as their marriage date.

I know whom Edward was married to and know that he was later located in the townland of Castlelumney in the parish of Mullary and his family.

Would you all have any ideas as to where I could turn?

Many, many thanks,

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I searched on Roots Ireland for the marriage record and nothing came up even though Ardee has records way back. I also searched in Co. Meath with no record. Likely they were married in the bride's parish which was different then Ardee and records do not go back to the late 1700s. I'm going to alert one of my colleagues in Co. Louth (different parish) and see if he has any thoughts on your family.

  • Mr. McDonnell,

Thank you so  much for your time in answering my query.  I too have researched on rootsireland and have been fortunate to locate some of my family members - Edward Moyles' birth though is as far back as I got (1795) - but it did provide his parents names ... Joseph Moyles and Mary Carroll!  It was Edward Moyles(Myles, Miles) son, Patrick, that departed in 1846 with his wife, Mary Curran Moyles, and their very young daughter on there journey to the USA.

Edward's wife was Mary Cooney and her address was listed as Kierans Cross on the marriage record and one of the witnesses had the last name of Kieran.  Is there still an area referred to Kierans Cross today?

I follow many facebook sites from County Louth and they do offer great insite .... one of my favorites is "Louth Weather" ...   that gentleman is great with his weather explanations!

Am looking forward to be able to make my first trip across the pond!

Again, I thank you for taking the time to answer and I do understand that I may never be able to locate all the details, but I can tell you with out question, I am thrilled with what I have located so far!

    My best to you,
