To my knowledge it is not possible to go beyond the address given in the Tithe Applottments. If you can find the family in Griffiths Valuation then you are on your way, see http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/index.xml?action=place… the little map given here can I understand be overlaid on more up to date maps here. http://www.osi.ie/

There is also a site about Louth and you may find a better address if lucky, see http://www.jbhall.freeservers.com/

In rural areas there were no street names or house numbers (that is still the case in some parts) and your townland was sufficient to identify you or get a letter delivered. The postman, and anyone else who mattered, knew exactly where in the townland everyone lived.

If the family are listed in Griffiths Valuation then you can use their maps (contemporaneous and modern) to locate a property today, but if the family are only in the tithes, then it’s much harder.
