I found a record of Patrick J Byrne baptised in 1835 - I believe he is my great great grandfather

Have you tried looking up the following websites, they may be able to offer you some assistance in finding out about your Great Great Grandfather:

Another souce which may be of interest to you is the Tithes Applotment Books. These are land records that were compliled between 1823 and 1838. There is a manuscript book for almost every parish, giving the names of occupiers, the amount of land held, and the sums to be paid in tithes to th Church. As Patrick was born c. 1835 and you have his parents names you may be able to find a record of him in this. You can search the Tithes Applotment Books here:

FInally, the Irishtimes website may be of use to as you can browse what Catholic Records are available for each specific county. For the records pertaining to the parish of Haggardstown in Co. Louth, follow this link:

You really need more information if you want to determine if Patrick,baptised 1835, is your ancestor. Remember to post as much information as you can with regard to the people you are researching. Hi.

I have a Patrick James Byrne in my family tree as well but he is my Great Grandfather.  I am on Ancestry dot com and I find it is very helpful but I haven't used this site but I bet it is a great complement.

My Grandfather came over from Ireland and settled in Cranston, RI.  If you need any help, let me know.  i am not sure if he was baptised in 1835 as my dad remembers his grandfather and my dad was born in 1935 which would make Grandpa Patrick over a 100 when my dad was born.  But maybe a little more research on my part with my dad might sort a few things.  Maybe my Patrick was a Jr?
