Hello!

My great great grandparents Francis McKenna and Margaret Kerr are from Drumgowna in Killanny Parish. They were married 18 May 1864 in Louth, Louth, Ireland. Francis' father is also named Francis, while Margaret's father is listed as Peter Kerr. They  had 8 children that I know of:

Peter McKenna   born 11 July 1864 in County Louth

Mary McKenna (my great grandmother)   born 2 Feb 1866 in County Louth, emigrated to US about 1880, married James O'Flanagan in Chicago, Died 6 Dec 1948

Rose Anne McKenna   born 26 April 1868 in County Louth, married name: Corrigan

Margaret Theresa McKenna   born 15 July 1870 in County Louth,

Thomas McKenna   born 30 June 1872 in County Louth,

Michael McKenna   born 15 Dec 1874 in County Louth,

Francis McKenna   born 22 April 1877 in County Louth,

Katherine McKenna   born 31 March 1879  in County Louth, emigrated to US married name Carpenter, widowed young, lived with her sister Mary in Chicago, died 22 Dec 1974

I noticed that the 1901 and 1911 census lists a Michael McKenna living in Drumgowna born approx. 1874. Wondering if this could be my great grandmother's younger brother.

I'd love to hear from any McKennas or Kerrs from the area!

best regards,

  • Hi Michael

Just found this site today and I think I might be a link in your family tree

My grandfather was Michael Mc Kenna

Looking on the 1911 census my aunts and uncles are named but my dad Thomas Mc Kenna was not born then

    Helen Mallon, nee Mc Kenna
