  • Hi Esther

i am living in Drogheda and will answer part of your question. The areas you mentioned are in the same general part of the town and records of cementaries would be St Peters and Cord Road. See http://www.jbhall.freeservers.com/

The only brewery in the town was Cairnes and there is a bar bistro in the a scotch Hall Shopping Centre in part of the brewery incorporated in the centre. Scotch Hall was only built in the las t 7 or so years.

there is a well known Campbell from the part of the town plays for the Dubliners.  He was not an original member.

    see

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dubliners

did you try a general search on the census as I discovered relatives in hospital and in other houses.

if they died after about 1920 then the GRO website is the government site cf registry but you pay a small amout but they may not do wildcard searches.

  • Hi Pat,

I was over in Drogheda last year,it was my first time back to Drogheda since i was a child.I really enjoyed my time there, the people were GR8.

I did manage to find my grandparent's grave in St Peter's R/C cemetery and got my grandfathers death cert..

I had thought tracing the Campbell's would be a piece of cake, how wrong i was.

If you are referring to Eamonn Campbell i have had a look still can't make a connection.

My Aunt, Jenny Campbell  Rooney( my mum's sister) birth 1903, lived at 47 Congress Avenue, she was the only member i know of that remained in Drogheda.

    Mum's siblings.

Patrick Campbell birth 1897emigrated to uk 1923

Mary Agnes ,born 1898,no information on her, maybe she continued to live in Drogheda.

Eileen May  birth 1908,Lived in Dublin married Lowndes

Alice Campbell birth 1911 married Morton  lived in Dublin

Bridget Campbell birth 1905  as did her brother's Thomas Campbell birth 1900 ,Frank Campbell birth 1913 all emigrated to uk 1923.you would think with all this information i would have found some cousins by now.I am only sorry i did not ask questions before they all passed away,

    Thank You Pat

    Kind Regards

    Esther

  • Hi Esther

i spoke to a friend from Congress Avenue and he knew your aunt and her family. Do not want to post personal recent info on a message board so if you wish to mail me at

ohalloran.pat@gmail.com I will fill you in.

Also I was reared in a small town in north Dublin and there were a few Lowndes families there.

My now adult daughter tells me she was at school with a few Campbell's.

    hope that is suitable.
